New ribbon

I ordered some new ribbons and they came in today! I still have the ribbons from the previous post. You now have a greater selection to choose from. If you have a hard time telling what colors are on a ribbon send an e-mail to bd47258@yahoo.com and I will let you know.

Skyline

This weekend Scott and I are running our second run together. I don't think he is quite as addicted as I am, but he runs because he loves me. I know, I know, I married an amazing man, and he reminds me everyday of that. I just hope he thinks the same of me. Let's face it, without me he would live off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. So I suppose I am good for something.
Anywho, back to running. Yesterday morning we went on a run. The weather outside was really humid and breezy. We ran a neighborhood with a constant incline so we will be ready for downtown Charlotte Saturday.
I am wearing a shirt from SR and my own no slip headband. I know you guys are dying to know where this sexy look comes from. Run hills outside when it's hot, and you are pushing against headwinds, and this look can be achieved for free!
Check out SkinnyRunner tomorrow. You might see something/someone you recognize. Happy Wednesday!

Roses

Last summer Scott planted a rose bush for me in our little backyard. To our surprise the bush has gotten huge with lots of flowers! I kill everything, but have managed to keep this bush alive. Maybe it's because I have left it alone:)

I have fresh cut flowers from our yard on our dining room table!

Happy Easter

We celebrated Easter this year at home for the first time in a 4 years. We were able to celebrate with my sisters at church. After church since we weren't doing anything with Scott's family until 2, we went to eat brunch at Restaurant forty six. If you live around Kannapolis this restaurant is a must try. We did the price fixe buffet, and were delighted at the selection of food. There were fresh pastries, salad, yogurt bar, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, chicken apple sausage, biscuits and gravy, quiches, shrimp and grits, pancakes with syrup, hashbrown casserole, and eggs or omelets cooked to order. Oh I can't forget the dessert table, with small samples of different types of dessert.

My favorite thing in the whole buffet was the yogurt bar. I went back for 2 trips.

After brunch, we headed over to Scott's parents house for an Easter egg hunt with the kids. Scott and I played the bunny this year and hid eggs at his Grandparent's house.

Uncle Scott hiding eggs.

Austin found the last egg.
Side note, he made his Easter basket at school and was so proud of it.

Noda tasty finds

Saturday evening Scott and I headed over to the NoDa district in Charlotte. NoDa is an art district that very much reminds us of something you would find on King Street in Boone. We ate dinner at Cabo Fish Taco and then treated ourselves to dessert from Amelie's French Bakery. As soon as I walked in I was in heaven. There were glass displays full of desserts each calling my name. Fun fact about this bakery is it is open 24 hours a day. No matter what time you get the craving for a fresh pastry, Amelie's will be open to fix your craving.

Fresh corn salsa from Cabo.

This place is very eclectic. They have a chandelier made of small kitchen tools. Next time I'll get a picture of the inside. It was too busy when we went.
Can you guess which dessert belongs to who?
When our friends come into town we have a new place to take our friends:)

No Slip headbands

I have signed up for Team in Training and I am already getting a head start on raising money. Funny, the money is the part that I am more worried about than the actual running 13.1 miles. Head over to my TNT page and see what my first fundraising idea is. I promise your not going to want to miss out on these incredible non moving headbands. If you don't believe me, buy one and let me prove you wrong!

Rain rain go away

Scott and I just ran our first 5k together this morning. Yesterday we received an e-mail saying "The run will happen rain or shine." While I was really pulling for no rain, I woke up this morning at 6 to a down pour. The rain tapered off by the time we left the house this morning, but once we started walking to the start line the rain picked up again. We both said that we wouldn't melt in the rain, and thought the challenge would be fun to run in the rain.
Once we started the rain turned to a sprinkle and wasn't a bother. We were so lucky. I am very thankful that I did wear my hat (with a bill).
The turn out was really impressive for a small run in the rain. Now we are enjoying the rest of the morning on the sofa with hot coffee and our lazy dogs.
I laid everything out the night before so I didn't have to worry about this morning!
Pre run. See how gloomy it is outside.

Post race photo! All smiles:)
Coby needed some attention from dad while he was resting.
I needed a hot cup of coffee!

Today's race was so successful Scott has agreed to run the Charlotte Skyline run April 30 with me. We are going this afternoon to sign up for it! Hopefully that run won't be rainy. Now time for a shower and a nap. I was so excited last night and this morning I didn't get much sleep. Dork, I know:)
In case you were curious I ran in 27:38 my Garmin time.
Mile 1: 8:49
Mile 2: 8:49
Mile 3: 9:30
Mile 4: 00:29 (8:11 pace)

If I were single

My house would be decorated completely differently. Within the past few years I have fallen in love with the bright, bold, flower prints. But since I love my husband and know how he feels about this style, I leave those prints out of the house.
Don't get met wrong I love the way our house is decorated, but everytime I walk into Anthropologie I daydream.

What man wouldn't want this in their house?

A day in the life....

of a school(apparel) teacher.
Apparel 2 is making keychains and lanyards as one of their class run businesses.

Why not make the color wheel fun? Students used the 3 primary colors and made the color wheel with icing and cookies! Their teachers later on in the day really love it when I do this lab....sugar high x chatter boxes= they already had my class for the day!
Above: Apparel 2 doing a batik lab. You apply wax to areas you don't want dye. Then dye the garment. Once the dye sets you remove the wax. A student hand drew this elephant.

Below: Apparel 1 tie dye lab.
Apparel 1 hand sews stuffed animals. These are just a few examples of their finished product.
Apparel 2 student sewing her garment.

I am always so proud of the work my students do in class. Being a project based class is rewarding not only for the students but for myself.

Charleston

As you know we were in Charleston for the weekend. The previous post was a race recap. This is a post of pictures from the weekend. The only regret is we didn't a group shot of the four of us.We look like professional models don't we?
I am thinking we can quit our day jobs:)

We needed to sit down and rest our tired legs.

The boys coming out of their version a "candy store". All smiles and bags.

Enjoying beers and appetizers at the bar.

A bookstore we passed while running had this in their window.

Squint really really hard. You don't see it do you?

I promise there are porpoises swimming.

The bridge really doesn't look that steep from here.
We couldn't have asked for better weather. We had a great weekend away with dear friends and wonderful food. Two of us left with sore quads but a great sense of accomplishment.

Cooper River Bridge Run

This past weekend I ran in my second race. I joined 40,000+ runners to conquer the bridge run in Charleston, SC. Whit and I decided we wanted to run the race together. I am so happy that we ran together pretty much the whole time. It was great to have a running buddy. We kept each other going and high fived at the top of the bridge! I started loosing steam after mile 5 and she surged ahead.

Break Down of 6.2 miles
Mile 1 9:04
Mile 2 10:07 (the bridge)
Mile 3 10:16 (yep, still on the bridge)
Mile 4 9:26 (downhill and flat road)
Mile 5 9:52
Mile 6 10:07 (loosing the steam)
Mile 7 2:06 (on pace for a 9:06 mile. I found the energy)
Garmin time: 1:00:59 (I am liking this time better)
Chip time: 1:01:09 (20 seconds slower)
Overall finish 11,887
Female finish 4,673

The night before I had everything laid out and ready to go for our early morning wake up call.
I am such a type A person.
